The Google Mobile app has been out for a while. I find that I actually use it and it works pretty well even if only for quicklinks to google docs, cal and others for both personal and company versions.

AT&T Uverse App – Finally!

Lets see AT&T has been the exclusive provider of the iPhone for almost 2 years now and the just came out with an App for Uverse. You have to be kidding me. Can you say old and slow big corp?
Anyway I am glad they did. This can be useful for times when you are away from home and you want to record the big game/show/movie etc…

The app allows users to easily search U-verse TV program listings from the full program guide, view descriptions of selected programs, schedule program or series recordings, manage or edit scheduled recordings, and delete stored DVR content.

Need an easy way to manage your money? Check out Mint. com. Assuming you have online access to your credit card and other companies you can manage them all in one place. Mint has worked well for me in the past and now they have an iphone app that lets me easily track my money on the go. Very handy. Do I need that new Nikon lens? Let me check my balances, Whoaaa!. Google just updated their mobile app by adding voice recognition. I see a new Apple commercial coming on soon. Is this the killer app for the iphone? In my limited testing it works well if you know what to say.

Google just released Google Earth for iphone and ipod touch. Very impressive application. It is free at the app store now.

The recent Apple event has come and gone. The new ipod nanos and revised Touch look cool enough. Changes to iTunes aren’t ground breaking but I love the new Genius playlists and Sidebar and the totally useless new visualizer rocks. The keynote is worth a look if you don’t want to figure out the new changes on your own.

On the iPhone front, the 2.1 software comes out tomorrow and in Steve’s own words provides – Significantly better battery life, fewer call drops tons of bug fixes, faster backups to iTunes and No app crashes. sounds good to me.

Speaking of iphone apps. This one looks interesting. Something to keep the kids busy in the car. A review of Enigmo by Kevin Rose.

The dirty little secret about phones that use 3G is battery life. It will be interesting to see how this plays out after the iphone launch . Even though the new iphone has a better battery than the old one and most if not all other 3G phones it will have trouble making it through the work day. The fix? leave 3G off unless you really need it.

Watch the video it explains it better than I can. Pay close attention to OCR function this sets it apart from anything I have seen before.

Android the true geek phone platform from Google. Android is not a phone but a platform. This is what makes it a great geek phone. Geeks can never agree on what makes the best device. With Android every geek can have his own phone and customize it at the hardware and software level to their hearts desire. The Android platform reminds me of something Microsoft would do. Take some of the cool features from the iPhone and release a mobile OS. The twist here is Google made the whole thing open source and that makes a huge difference. You can modify the operating system anyway they want with no restrictions. Watch the video from my favorite muppet Sergey Brin.

You can definitely see some resemblance to OSX and the iphone. From the Webkit browser (from Apple) to the icons.
