Morning Light: Making the Cut

Posted by admin under gfurry

Tonight on ESPN2 is the show about the Morning Light, the movie my brother is in. Check it out tonight at 8pm EST on ESPN2. If you miss this showing it is also on again at Friday the 10th at Midnight. Kind of a lame clip below but that is all I could find on the show.
The movie opens October 17th in theaters. Check out the trailer here.

Don’t Vote!

Posted by admin under gfurry

Here is an amusing video from a bunch of celebrities. I like the idea. I don’t like it that people vote for the candidate their favorite celebrity wants them to vote for without knowing the issues. The video has some NSFW language.

The Android has arrived

This looks like a nice device if you have everything in Google. Seems like the iphone does this and much more for the same price. Time will tell I guess. Certainly worth a look if you are on T-mobile

Check out Engadget for all the details. T-Mobile also has a site just for the phone here.

The Leica S System

Posted by admin under gfurry

Rumors have been floating around for a while about Nikon releasing a medium format camera called the MX. Bigger than the current FX (full frame) of the D3 and D700. Well I wish I had news on that front but I don’t. Well I don’t from Nikon. I do from Leica.

Today Leica announced the S-System a DSLR that is larger than a full frame or film SLR buy 56%!. Knowing Leica only the professionals and ultra rich need to apply. It does look interesting though. The system includes 9 lenes. Read all about it at the Leica site. The video is entertaining but for some reason reminds me of a skit from Saturday night live.

Haven’t heard of Leica recently? The Wall Street Journal has a story the gets some of the facts right.

Plastic Logic

The winning company from Demo 2008. Is this the paper of the future? Think about the resources required to get you a newspaper. Assume all the reporting is finished and the data is in a computer. Now it has to go to a press, tossed on a truck and delivered to your house. Think of all the trees and gasoline just involved in those two things. Now take that same computer and hit publish and my home town Newspaper is delivered to me where ever I am as soon as someone hits the publish button. The news would also be much more up to date.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G lens Nikon Announces the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G lens

Posted by admin under gfurry

Nikon just announced the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G lens. Wow!. This is blah. I hope this isn’t the only announcement from Nikon to come out of Photikina. I am sure it is a nice lens but Nikon already has two nice 50mm lenses. How about replacing the 28 f/1.4? This lens sold for $1,600 new and now sells for $2,500-$3,500 on eBay. Sure everyone needs a 50mm lens but talk about boring.

Canon EOS 5D MKII first look

Posted by admin under gfurry

When Nikon came out with the Nikon D90 it looked like it was a game changer. Everyone knew the Canon EOS 5D MKII wasn’t far behind but I don’t think anyone thought it would be this good. Vinvent Laforet take a first look at the video side of the camera at his blog. Sounds amazing. I know if I had a Canon body and lenses instead of Nikon this would probably already be on pre-order for me. See a nice little video on the Canon site showing the big bullet features.

UPDATE Vincent posted his video. See his blog or Canon

I am a PC?

Posted by admin under gfurry

Here is Microsoft’s next jab at the Apple commercials. I like it much better than the first attempts. Still not sure it makes me want to buy a PC. Maybe it makes PC folks feel ok about owning a PC and not switching to mac.
