American car design

GM officially announced the Volt today. And I have to say it does look much better than the competition. Sure it is easy for a show car to look great but that often gets lost by the time it actually hits the production line. The same thing happened with the Volt but it still t looks good compared to the competition. Take a look at the Toyota Prius or the Prius look a like from Honda answers to the Prius called the FCX clarity. Honda goes with Hydrogen, GM goes with electricity for 40 miles. I like the 40 miles of electricity from GM. When do you get the worst gas milage? City, stop and go driving.

Here is an interior video with some design philosophy narrative. Looks different. Not a good idea in my opinion to put capacitive touch controls in a car. Why? Because you have to look at them to find them and that requires taking your eyes off the road. I continue to wonder why heads-up displays don’t put the controls you use more often on the windshield liley instead of the tach and the speedometer. Sure it is nice to know how fast you are going but you can figure that with a quick glance. Why not put the radio controls where you can see them. You are more likely to change those more often.
